After a tough week off the pitch, Chester failed to win for only the fourth time in the league this season. The hosts dominated throughout but couldn’t find a way to break down a side who played within their half for the vast majority of the game.
1. Brackley’s tactics.
Spent the majority of this game baffled as to how today’s opponents are 3rd in the table. They went a step further on the concept of “parking the bus”, interested to see the stats of how many shots they actually had today, can’t be more than two can it? Amazing.
2. Nathan Turner
Always like to heap the praise on one player after a game, and in a dull game the Leeds loanee was perhaps a rare bright spark. His impressive range of passing was worth watching and his tackling was just as good, made some vital interventions at times. Youngie should get on the phone to the Yorkshire outfit and get this lad on loan for next season too, really adds something to the team.
He wasn’t great. The Blues had a perfectly good shout turned down in the first half, and he was also far too lenient with regards to time wasting which, I may add, started in the first minute and finished in the last. Neil Young was also quick to make note of his mistakes, but that is justified in my view, as is the abuse he got from the crowd. Sometimes some fans are far too harsh on refs but this one deserved all he got.
We’re unbeaten in twenty games now, which is a Blue Square North record. Having lost only one game all season, we look a good bet for promotion. But I don’t want to speak to soon: we nearly bottled it in the first season!
Finally, keep the faith readers. It’s been a bad week off the pitch but we’re stronger if we pull together.
