Chester dropped two points away after they missed a tonne of chances while managing to contain a Southport team which looked fairly decent on the counter. The worst culprit was Jamie Reed who managed to blaze a shot over the bar and hit the top of the stand behind when through on goal with the keeper and in a load of space. Chester were missing lots of key players through suspension and injury but still managed to put together a pretty decent performance. Here are a few thoughts…
Looked good today. Bright, good touch and tried things. Had a few half chances and did well with most of them. Really good prospect and we should be proud he’s come through the youth team. Would also like to see more of Sean Miller. Thought he did alright when he started the other week.
We spent ages looking for a formation and seem to have found one at last and it’s four four fucking two. To be honest at the start of the season I agreed with Youngy. We didn’t seem good enough to play four at the back so we had five. Then we weren’t good enough in midfield so tried five there. Then we didn’t have enough support for the strikers so we go back to 442 and so far it seems to be working. We have looked much better positionally in the last few games. Maybe sticking to the basic British formation is the way out of the relegation zone this season.
We need some desperately. The last two games we have played well but haven’t got the three points. We have to get the maximum when we play well because we aren’t going to pick up a win when we are playing badly.
Really lacking in confidence. That miss at the end was just….
Anyway bring on Gateshead.
