A lovely lob from Seddon, a ridiculous own goal and a Hobson header from a well taken corner put Chester three up against a terrible Hyde side. They pulled one back through a very well taken freekick before Brown basically ended his season by being sent off for chucking a ball at someone’s head. Another freekick from Hyde meant they gave us a nervy finish to the game but Chester, somehow, held on. Here are some thoughts about the match…
Going to start with the positives. Two very good goals and one stupid one for us. Hobson played well and deserved his goal, certainly put himself about a bit and got a few knocks. Seddon has played better and been onside more but took his goal really well.
Both Hyde’s goals were lovely freekicks, the first one was applauded by the whole ground it was that good. Hyde made quite a few chances in open play as well but managed to spoon all of them wide which saved us from any embarrassment. Was certainly nervy at the end.
3. Sending off
I actually didn’t see it. Heard it was for Brown throwing a ball at someone’s head after the foul was given against Kay. While, on the face of it, that seems like a stupid reason to get sent off there was no need to do it really and it will cost us. The sending off will be counted as violent conduct which means Brown, probably our best centre back, will be out until the final game of the season. Bollocks. On that note the ref really lost it after the sending off. Before then he had done ok but after that incident he completely lost his head. Giving yellows out for clean tackles and ignoring fouls and injuries. Utter joke.
Desperately needed them. We made it as difficult as possible for ourselves, as always, but still won. I swear sometimes we go out to try and lose. Anyway roll on next week.
